Anyone can act Theatre of the Oppressed is a participatory community engagement methodology that supports development programs by engaging rural communities, particularly women and marginalized groups, in identifying social challenges and exploring solutions. The approach uses real-life experiences and Forum Theatre to facilitate dialogue, collective reflection, and active participation, helping strengthen confidence, communication, and collective action. By addressing gender inequality, restrictive social norms, discrimination, and barriers to participation, it supports more inclusive and gender-transformative development interventions. Its adaptable and non-commodity-specific nature enables development partners to integrate the methodology across different sectors, value chains, and livelihood systems.
Farm-to-Feed Innovation: Turning local by-products into affordable, high-quality livestock feed Small-scale Feed Production Using Local Agricultural By-products provides an adaptable approach for strengthening livestock feed security by transforming locally available agricultural and agro-industrial resources into nutritionally balanced feed. It combines locally adapted formulations, capacity building, and appropriately selected processing equipment, allowing feed production systems to be tailored to local resources, infrastructure, energy access, and production needs. Implemented through different production and service configurations in Tunisia, Mali, Ethiopia, and Yemen, the technology supports productive use of agricultural by-products, decentralized feed production, local enterprise development, and reduced pressure on grazing resources. Its adaptability provides a scalable solution for strengthening the resilience of livestock-dependent communities to seasonal and climate-induced feed shortages.
Protect farmers’ investment from weather shocks Index-based insurance is a financial product that protects farmers against weather risks such as drought or excess rainfall. It uses data from weather stations or satellites to detect when a shock occurs. In practice, farmers pay a premium before the season. If the defined weather threshold is reached during the season, payouts are automatically sent—without field inspections or claims—allowing farmers to recover and continue production.
