Anyone can act Theatre of the Oppressed is a participatory community engagement methodology that supports development programs by engaging rural communities, particularly women and marginalized groups, in identifying social challenges and exploring solutions. The approach uses real-life experiences and Forum Theatre to facilitate dialogue, collective reflection, and active participation, helping strengthen confidence, communication, and collective action. By addressing gender inequality, restrictive social norms, discrimination, and barriers to participation, it supports more inclusive and gender-transformative development interventions. Its adaptable and non-commodity-specific nature enables development partners to integrate the methodology across different sectors, value chains, and livelihood systems.
